Brownies

Adelle loves to help me in the kitchen. Today we made brownies for kinship tonight and then made a batch of granola. YUM! Of course, for Adelle, the highlight is the spatula. This time, however, it was a truly yummy one, and not the potato salad one.

We also had fun playing outside today. I've been trying to get the girls out every day after lunch because the weather is SO NICE and I know in a month or so it'll be too yucky and cold to get out anymore.

Please Touch

The Please Touch Museum (Philadelphia's children's museum) just moved into Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park. They had a special members preview this weekend and My mom, step-dad, and I took Adelle yesterday morning. Let me first say that the new building and exhibits are A-MAY-ZING! I cannot wait until it opens on October 18th so we can go back again.

Adelle was so enthralled and overwhlemed that she literally spent the first hour just walking around and looking at everything. We then ate lunch and Adelle figured out what she wanted to do. We went to the projects room where they had 'paint your own face' stations set up. Adelle apinted her face as well as mine and her Nana's. SO FUN! We rode the carosel and played with some other things before leaving (she cried). We will definitely go there as many times as we can before we move!

Adelle was not too thrilled with her first carosel ride at first, but she warmed up to it!

It sure is fun to paint your face!

Whew!

It's been so long since I've posted anything. We've been super busy and then out of town until Monday. We went to Roanoke to visit family and had a blast! We carried on the tradition of family slumber parties with Adelle and Evie this year. We threw a big blanket on the floor, fixed yummy snacks for dinner (read: cheese dip, olives, and junk food from the freezer section - aka stuff we never eat), and watched tv. Fun times! We would have watched a movie, but Adelle was into Max and Ruby. Fair enough.

Then we took Adelle, Evie and Carmen to the Please Touch Museum yesterday. Mary is super pregnant right now and needed a child-free day to rest and get stuff done before Leo arrives. I totally understand. So we picked Carmen up and she spent the day with us. Big fun. The museum was great, of course. As you can see from the picture, face painting was big fun again.

As always, more pictures here.

Dentist

I took Adelle to the dentist for the first time today. Really, the goal was just to get her comfortable with the equipment, etc. and then we'd try again another time to actually clean her teeth. As with all new things, we spent weeks beforehand talking about what it would be like so it would hopefully not be too scary for her when the time came. The whole way there this morning, Adelle kept saying she was scared. Uh oh. Once we got there, though, the wonderful Miss Olivia was her usual cheery self and put Adelle right at ease. She let Adelle 'go for a ride' in the chair, play with the water squirter/air blower guy by putting a fake tattoo on her hand, and then gave "Mr. Thirsty" (the sucky thingy) a drink of water. By far, the highlight was Mr. Thirsty. All she wanted to do was fill up the little cup of water and let Mr. Thirsty have a drink. Ha ha ha. By the time Dr. Schmuckler came in, she was feeling good. They drew a happy face on his mask and she let him not only count and clean her teeth, but do a flouride treatment as well! Awesome! Go Adelle! She walked away with a fake tattoo, three stickers, and raving about the candy-flavored toothpaste and, of course, Mr. Thirsty.

She's tough. Check out that awesome dragonfly tattoo. She was so excited to have a tattoo "just like Daddy". I hope she's not too sad when it comes off.

Adelle was, indeed, a TERRIFIC patient!
