A Tale of Two Cinderellas
So, last night was Halloween. This year, we decided that Adelle and Carmen would probably get a kick out of going trick or treating together. Both decided they wanted to be Cinderella, but thankfully Mary and I got the girls different Cinderella costumes. So last night we got the Adelle and Evie dressed up and headed over to Mary, Marcos, and Carmen's place after dinner. Of course, we were right. The girls had a blast! Adelle was really into it and kept leaving the rest of us in the dust. "Adelle, wait for us, please." was repeated over and over and over... she was excited and when two-year-olds are excited, their hearing and/or short term memory goes out the window, apparently. We kept having to remind Adelle that she was supposed to say "Trick or treat" when people come to the door, not "May I have some candy, please?" She is very polite, though, I must say. But of course, everyone thought they were cute. How could you not? Two little toddler Cinderellas (and a baby Tigger in tow)? Too adorable!"Say 'Candy!'"

They were just a little excited... ha ha ha.

Wouldn't you have loved to open the door to this?

the faith of a child
The other day, Adelle and I were headed to the grocery store. I saw a fire truck coming toward us with sirens blazing. I told Adelle to check it out. After it passed, we had the following conversation:Adelle: That was a little bit scary.
Me: Yeah. Well, the fire fighters have to get somewhere quick because someone is in trouble and needs help. If you ever need help because of a fire or a bad accident, you call 911.
Adelle: No, Mommy. If I need help, I call Jesus. He will help me.
Me: (thinking, I just got schooled by a two-year-old) Yes, Adelle. You're right! We should call on Jesus. He will help us... and then we call 911.
A few random pics from the past few days -
Ahhh... the simple pleasure of a blue tootsie pop and the fun things it does to your mouth. Adelle thought her blue tongue was hilarious.

Cue angels singing - the girls are starting to play TOGETHER. I think everybody's happy about this.

I tried some rollers in Adelle's hair this afternoon... not bad. Tonight we're doing it after her bath with them in overnight. Girls are awesome.

A Good Day
Yesterday we had an open house, so we spent the afternoon after church with our friends, Mark and Abby. We all had a great time, as usual, but Adelle had a super day! She has always just clicked with their oldest daughter, Skye, who is six. We made pizzas together, then Skye set up the floor of the living room for a slumber party-type Curious George fest and they had popcorn. Later they all played computer games together. At one point, their son, Gabriel, came in to inform us all that he loves Adelle. Jamie responded, "That's great, Gabriel. But that's as far as it goes, my man." Ha ha ha! Once Evie and Mia woke up from their naps, they had big fun making cute baby noises at each other. Thanks for a great afternoon, guys!

First Haircut
I had been growing increasingly fed up with scraggly hair in Adelle's face all the time, so this morning I decided that today was the day for her first haircut. Yes, I've kept her bangs trimmed up and such, but Adelle has never had a real hair cut before. I took her to a kids hair salon this morning and had them cut her bangs for real and trim everything up. It looks adorable and she did great! She got to climb up on this animal seat and watch cartoons the whole time, so not too much of a hardship for her. Since it was her first haircut, they gave her a little certificate and put some of her hair in an envelope for me. And then she got to pick out a lollypop... hands down the highlight for her.zoned out watching cartoons while getting her hair cut

she's pretty proud of her cute new hair cut (and a little annoyed that Mommy made her remove her lollypop for this picture)
