Not surprisingly, Adelle is turning out to be little Miss Independent already. Not a surprise as both her Mom and Dad are known for this trait. She's already trying to hold her bottle herself, and last night she was flipping her own pages while Daddy was reading a book to her. This'll be really fun in a few more months.Monday, 07 August 2006
Well, last night we decided to put Adelle to bed after her 7:00 feeding. She has been so sleepy in the evenings lately and not as interested in her 9:00 feeding, so we thought we'd gie it a whirl and see how she did. As I figured, she woke up two hours earlier than normal since her little body is used to her schedule. I thought I'd let her fuss for just a few minutes to see if she'd go back to sleep and to my utter astonishment, she did! I couldn't believe it. So, we woke her up at 7:00 this morning and she seems to have done just fine with it. So, it looks like Adelle has a new bedtime. The funny part is that after she went to bed last night Jamie and I just looked at each other as said, "Now what?"Thursday, 10 August 2006
New picture of mommy amd baby! Jamie just took it this afternoon. She's so cute!
As most Mom's do, I have become a pro at multi-tasking. As I sit here to write this, I am also eating breakfast and trying to keep Adelle entertained. I just took a bite of my yummy multigrain bagel with butter and cinnamon sugar on it and what do I taste? ONION! I guess a little peice of onion slipped into this bagel. Let me just say for the record - onion and cinnamon sugar are not a good combo.
Okay, so on to Adelle. She's doing well sleeping all night and Jamie and I are slowly getting used to having time to ourselves. I often wonder what we did before we had Adelle? Did we ever think we were actually busy then?
She's been trying to grab food off our plates and smacks her little gums while we're eating dinner so I'm thinking she is ready for something else. Tonight Jamie and I are going to try her on some cereal and see what she thinks. Don't worry - we'll post some video!
She's been trying for over a week now to hold her bottle by herself. Last night she succeeded for a whole 13 seconds (Jamie timed her... ha ha ha!). Go Adelle!
Other than that, we're just gearing up for our big trip next week. Let's hope she enjoys visiting new places or it's going to be a VERY LONG three weeks!

Well, the cereal went over surprisingly well. She 'ate' a good bit of it and I think some of it may have even ended up in her tummy.
You can see more pics of the first feeding adventure here.

Adelle LOVES her cereal! She ate it ALL tonight. Yep, most of it actually went in her tummy this time.Saturday, 12 August 2006
Adelle is four months old today! Here's a new picture. I put more up here.

We had a fun day yesterday. Hills and Owen came to visit for the day. Owen just turned one last weekend. Boy is he fun! It was amazing to watch him play with Adelle's toys... he totally gets them. Right now Adelle likes to just try to grab them and then she doesn't really know what to do with them after that. Ha ha ha.The cutest thing was that Owen kept saying "ada, ada, ada" and we couldn't figure out what he was talking about until he repeated it after Hills said "Adelle". Lightbulb! He was trying to say "Adelle". If that's not the cutest thing ever, I'm just not sure what is. He kept trying to share his toys with her and would crawl over to see her. He's going to be a great big brother someday.

Her appointment with the pediatrician went well today. She gained only one pound, but grew over 2 inches! She's now 26 1/2 inches long. WOW! She said she noticed that Adelle is already showing signs of separation anxiety, which we knew, and said that while it is uncommon before 6 months, it just means that she is really smart because she can recognize Jamie and I. So, Grandparents, she told me to warn you not to take it personally if she's fussy when she's with you - she's just going through a stage. She also said to increase the amount of cereal she gets and to feed her twice a day and to add some fruit as well. Adelle will be so thrilled! We can't get her cereal in her fast enough - she just LOVES it! I'm off this afternoon to buy some fresh peaches or pears to make some food for tonight. Yum. She said to feed her one new thing for three days straight to make sure she's not allergic.

Peaches taste funny. At least that was Adelle's assessment of them last night. She would make a funny face, shiver a bit, and than sometimes gag. It was sooooo funny! She kept eating them, though. No doubt they taste much different from the breastmilk and cereal she's used to. But I tried her peaches (hey... I had to try my own cooking) and I thought they were YUMMY. I'm sure she'll agree in no time. We're busy busy busy today and tomorrow getting ready for our trip on Thursday. I'll try to keep this as updated as possible.

Proof that good friends start early:
Carmen was trying so hard to tell Adelle that "it's okay", but she clearly wasn't hearing it. I guess she just didn't want to have her picture taken today. They were so cute together, though! Adelle just smiled and laughed and tried to reach out and touch Carmen. Too sweet.

Adelle LOVES pears! Mmmmm mmmm. She actually ate all of her food this morning plus some extra pears. Those were a hit!
We're in Virginia now and will drive to Georgia tonight. Oh boy!
Wednesday, 23 August 2006
We are having a really nice time down in Georgia so far. She's been having a great time with her grandparents, aunt, and cousins.
Pears are still top on her list of new foods, though she's quite a fan of plums as well. I think maybe we'll try bananas or apples next.
Jamie and I actually went on a date last night. It's the first time we went out by ourselves since Adelle was two weeks old. We went to Zaxby's and had a great time! But, of course, we missed her.
We're off to Macon, Birmingham, and then Atlanta this next week. She's been doing well here in Dublin; we'll see how she does with so many new places this next week.

So far, Adelle is still doing well with all the new places and faces. It's been a huge blessing to us.She sat by herself today for about a minute before she toppled over on her side (TIMBER!). She's so funny. She'll have a hang of it soon, I'm sure.

Adelle is doing all sorts of new things these days. She started rolling completely over on her own. So now she's not so upset about being on her tummy because she can just flip herself back over. She also doesn't like to sit back in her bouncy seat any more, and sits herself up in it. So funny! It's a good thing there's a seat belt in here or she'd just jump right out of there!Latest food update: bananas are super yummy... maybe her favorite so far.
We're halfway through our time in Atlanta. Then we'll head up to Virginia for several days before heading back to Philly next weekend.
A few new pictures! Our friend took these a few days ago. Click on the picture for a larger version and to see more!

Adelle is going to be our little tree hugger and we love it. She just loves nature and thinks animals are big fun... as you can see.
